Info-Cop for RIM Blackberry Devices

High Security, Ease of Communication Enhance Options for Police Departments

Info-Cop’s wireless communications software for the law enforcement and emergency response now runs on Research in Motion (RIM) Blackberry devices, giving law enforcement departments even more flexibility in running Info-Cop’s public safety software, which simultaneously has added a new level of encryption for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database that no other vendor has yet achieved.

The security level available for Info-Cop on Blackberry devices is FIPS 197, AES-256 Encryption. These encryptions are so secure that the U.S. Government allows them to be used for classified information. Law enforcement officials now can be assured of convenient, discreet access to their most critical data, whether they are on foot, in a patrol car, or on a bike or horseback.

The new Info-Cop encryption level marks the first time the public has had access to a cipher approved by the National Security Agency for “Top Secret” information. As of 2005, this security level has never been breached. These security standards meet and exceed FIPS 140-2 compliancy.

Info-Cop’s Blackberry application has numerous features that exceed any industry capabilities to date. The system boasts easy-to-use features including:

  • numerous pull-down menus
  • error checks
  • status buttons for easy one-touch updates and assistance
  • full-screen photo display allows images to be displayed along with the response
  • electronic hazardous materials guide eliminates the needs to carry the book.

In addition, Info-Cop’s Blackberry application functions from one server software application, eliminating separate server installation and administration. The Java-based server software can accommodate up to 2,000 users, exceeding other applications’ limits. The Blackberry application allows remote management of individual devices, controlling lost or stolen devices to further eliminate the possibility of unauthorized access.
